China’s Two Sessions and 15th Five Year Plan
– A Gateway that Opens New Opportunities for Humanity
China’s National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (the “Two Sessions”) serve as a key window for the world to understand China. During this year’s “Two Sessions”, the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for national economic and social development was approved. It not only ushers in a new journey for Chinese modernization and outlines a blueprint for China’s development, but also creates vast opportunities for the world. In this sense, it goes beyond economic considerations and reflects the more profound implications of the proposals put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping, including the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative. In fact, it raises the question of how to build a world of mutual trust and common prosperity.
The world is presently caught in a gigantic whirlpool of turbulence and instability. The present political policies of the US, and the general policies of the European Union are being driven by the “Law of the Jungle” whereby the use of brute force and the arrogance of power are driving the world deeper towards a new cold war or, even worse, a new world war. The unprovoked attack by the US-Israel alliance against Iran is threatening to set the entirety of Southwest Asia and beyond on fire. To pull the world back from the brink of destruction will require rethinking international policy in light of the common interests of humanity. It is a complex challenge whereby ideological differences need to be replaced by a more profound philosophical and spiritual understanding of humanity and its relationship to nature. The guiding principles of Chinese civilization embedded in the 15th Five Year Plan together with the creative thinking which has been the foundation of European Renaissance thinking can together build the bridge which will provide a solution.
Kindly join the BRIX webinar on the above specified date to further discuss the direction for a new era for peace and development.
