The leading Chinese English-language daily Global Times interviewed Hussein Askary, Vice-Chairman of the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden to explore the reasons why the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was so attractive for developing nations, with more than 152 nations joining it so far.
Other questions discussed are what the lessons learned from the first 10 years of the BRI, and how it can improve its performance. Askary also describes the fundamental flaws in the Western-proposed “alternatives” to the BRI.
